Follow-on of the Meteor-2 series. Main improvements: sunsynchronous orbit and many more instruments. more performing.
Responsible agency, RosHydroMet, with Roscosmos responsible of the development of the space segment.
3-axis stabilised platform.
The design life time of the satellites is 5 years.
Exploiting synsynchronous orbits around 9:30 and 15:30.
Meteor-M3, mainly addressing oceanography, has a different orbit.
