Original name: “Midori” = "Green".
Two-satellite programme for scientific and technological development on ocean, land and atmosphere observation.
Japanese programme with large international participation: JAXA responsible of development and operations, several countries contributing to the instrumentation suite.
Platforms actively stabilised over 3 axes.
Design lifetime: 3 years.
Sunsynchronous orbits around 10:30.

Data circulation
Onboard stored or real-time data downlinked to several stations belonging to JAXA or connected to the JAXA Earth Observation Center (EOC) (one being Kiruna).
Data processing and distribution from the JAXA Earth Observation Data Analysis Research Center (EORC) or the establishments of the instrument providers.
