BackForwardInstrument:  ShMSA-VR

Instrument details
Acronym ShMSA-VR
Full name High resolution wide capture multispectral optical sensor
Purpose Land and vegetation observation
Short description

6 channels in VIS/NIR (5 multispectral, 1 panchromatic) [see detailed characteristics below]. 2 ShMSA-VR instruments are flown on RESURS-P4 and P5.

Background

An improved version of the imager flown on earlier RESURS-P1-P3 satellites with better spatial resolution.

Scanning Technique

Pushbroom, 8160 pixels per line for panchromatic imaging and 4080 pixels per line for multispectral imaging. Swath 38 km.

Resolution 1m in panchromatic, 3-4m multispectral; at nadir.
Coverage / Cycle Global coverage in 25 days, less by strategic pointing; in daylight.
Mass Power Data Rate Up to 600 Mbits/sec

Providing Agency Roscosmos
Instrument Maturity Flown on an R&D satellite
Utilization Period: 2013 to 2029
