Satellite Programme: Hai Yang 1
Programme details
Programme description
Series of satellites for ocean colour observation. "Hai Yang" = "Ocean".
Chinese programme: CAST responsible of development, NSOAS of operations.
The platforms are actively stabilised over 3 axes.
The design life time is 2 years for HY-1A, 6 years for follow-on.
The satellites exploit the sunsynchronous orbit around 10:30.
The replacement policy is based on launching satellites in sequence, roughly 6 months before the expected end-of-life of a satellite.
HY-1E/F will be a new generation of the satellites with improved sensors.
