Satellite Programme: Resurs Operational - 1
Programme details
Programme description
Series of 4 operational satellites, for land observation.
Follow-on of (and interleaved with) a long series of experimental satellites named Resurce-F (three sub-series, Resurs-F1, Resurs-F2 and Resurs-F1M), about 60 satellites of the Cosmos family launched in the period 1979-1999.
Main improvements over the Resurs-F series: sunsynchronous orbit, longer satellite lifetime and higher altitude. The operational Resurs-O1 series was prepared by the Meteor-Priroda programme flown in the period 1974-1983.
Russian programme: Roscosmos responsible of the development of the space segment, RosHydroMet responsible of operations.
The satellites are actively stabilised over 3 axes.
The design lifetime is 2 years.
The orbit is sunsynchronous around 10:15.
The replacement policy is based on launches at roughly 2-year intervals.
