Satellite Programme: Feng-Yun - 2
Programme details
Programme description
Series of eight operational meteorological satellites in geostationary orbit. Feng-Yun means “Wind and Cloud”.
Chinese programme. Developed by NRSCC and operated by CMA.
The platform is inertially stabilised by spin.
The design life time of the satellites is 3 years.
The primary position is 105°E. The replacement policy is based on placing further satellites on 86.5°E and 112°E.

Data circulation
CDAS (Command and Data Acquisition Station) for real-time acquisition of the full information.
S-VISSR Data Transmission for near-real time broadcasting of full resolution images.
WEFAX (Weather Facsimile) to broadcast a selection of images in analogue form.
LRIT (Low Rate Information Transmission), replacing WEFAX for broadcasting of image frames and other data.
DCS (Data Collection Service) to relay messages from self-timed DCP (Data Collection Platform).
CMACast [not exclusively dedicated to FY-2 data] DVB retransmission service.
