Satellite Programme: Capella
Programme details
Programme description
Constellation of satellites (36 at regime) for SAR imagery, proof-of-concept for a future operational constellation of microsatellites.
Commercial programme implemented by Capella Space, Palo Alto, California, USA.
The platforms are actively stabilised over 3 axes.
The design life time is 3 years for individual satellites, undetermined for the full constellation.
The replacement policy is based on launching satellites taking advantage of launch opportunities.
The orbits are conditioned by the launch opportunity, and may range from sunsynchronous to drifting.
See detailed description at https://directory.eoportal.org/web/eoportal/satellite-missions/c-missions/capella-x-sar#spacecraft.
