Name 2.9 Agricultural Meteorology
Description Agricultural meteorology is the branch of meteorology that deals with the relationship of weather and climate to crop and livestock production, including food security. Agrometeorological applications include estimation of crop yields for food security analysis, agroecological zoning and crop and livestock suitability mapping, understanding stress on vegetation and livestock related to meteorological parameters, agricultural pest and disease monitoring and forecasting, monitoring agrometeorological hazards such as droughts and frost, understanding emissions and fluxes on agricultural land to enhance understanding of efforts towards climate change mitigation in agriculture, and supporting adaptation of agricultural production systems to climate variability and change.
