Programme description
Series of satellites for land observation. and disaster monitoring.
Cooperative programme of Egypt and Ukraine or Russia - Programme responsible: Egypt National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Science (NARSS). Technical implementation: for EgyptSat-1: Yuzhnoye State Design Office (YSDO), Ukraine; for EgyptSat-2: Korolev Energia Rocket and Space Corporation (Energia RSC), Russia. Ground segment and operations managed by NARSS.
The platforms are actively stabilised over 3 axes.
Orbits either sunsynchronus (EgyptSat-1) or drifting (EgyptSat-2).
The design life time is 5 years for EgyptSat-1, 11 years for EgyptSat-2.
The satellites are launched at intervals, one after the end of life of the previous.

Data downlinked in X-band over two receiving stations of NARSS in Egypt.
