Full name Cloud and Aerosol Instrument
Purpose To detect cloud and aerosols in the GHGSat spectrometer field of view.
Short description It measures at wavelengths between 400 and 1000 nm with a spectral resolution of 1.9 nm. It has a diffraction grating to reflect light onto a detector. The detector consists of a number of rows of pixels that each correspond to one of the beams constituent bands.
Background New development to support cloud/aerosol detection for greenhouse gas monitoring.
